International Day of Peaceful Coexistence

In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

“O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another.”
God Almighty has spoken the truth.

The Global Nonviolence Organization: Freemuslim joins the international community in commemorating the International Day of Peaceful Coexistence, affirming that this day is not merely a ceremonial occasion, but a humanitarian outcry against hatred and wars, and an urgent call to entrench the values of acceptance of others and mutual respect as fundamental pillars for the stability of humanity.

The organization believes that peaceful coexistence begins with faith in the right of all people to live with dignity, regardless of religious, ethnic, or political differences. The principle of “nonviolence,” which the organization upholds, represents the most effective tool for addressing conflicts and sparing societies the devastation wrought by the language of weapons.

Risks Facing the Middle East (Challenges of 2026)

The organization closely monitors, with deep concern, the deterioration of conditions in the Middle East, as the year 2026 marks dangerous turning points that threaten the foundations of coexistence in the region, most notably:

  • The persistence of conflict hot spots: Escalating tensions in Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen, which deepen social divisions and fuel rhetoric of hatred and sectarian polarization.

  • The refugee and displacement crisis: Ongoing wars have triggered massive waves of displacement, placing severe economic and social pressures on civil peace in host countries.

  • Digital hate speech: The organization has observed a rise in the use of social media platforms to spread division and incitement, transforming diversity from a source of strength into a spark for conflict.

  • External interventions: These contribute to prioritizing the language of force over dialogue, undermining efforts toward development and sustainable stability.

The Organization’s Demands

In light of the above, the Global Nonviolence Organization Freemuslim calls for:

  • The activation of international laws that criminalize discrimination and hate speech, and ensure the protection of minorities and religious rights.

  • Reform of educational curricula to integrate the values of tolerance and nonviolence among younger generations, and to build intellectual resilience against extremism.

  • Comprehensive dialogue: Calling on political and religious leaders in the Middle East to engage in genuine dialogue that ends armed conflicts and places human welfare above all other considerations.

Building peace begins in the mind and the heart, and stability in our region and the world will not be achieved unless we believe that diversity is an adornment of existence, not a cause for conflict.
