In 2014 the Chinese government introduced re-education camps to transform through education. However, these re-education camps are no different to concentration camps that humanity has witnessed in the past.
The camps have approximately one million Muslims detained. Those forced into the camps have no lawyers, rights, and freedom is only granted once the camp officials see fit that they are successfully rehabilitated.
Below are accounts from previous detainees, as well as reports describing how the Chinese government has violated their human rights inside these camps:
There were nearly 6,000 people held in the same camp, where they were forced to sing political songs and study speeches of the Chinese Communist Party. They could not talk to each other and be forced to chant “Long live Xi Jinping” before meals.’
“They injected us from time to time, We had to stick our arms out through a small opening in the door,” the 54-year-old told France24. ”We soon realized that after our injections that we didn’t get our periods anymore.” account about sterilizing Muslim women.
There are media reports of inmates being forced to eat pork and drink alcohol, which is forbidden to Muslims, as well as reports of torture and death.
It has been reported by former detainees that China has been forcefully harvesting the organs of its ethnic minorities from its re-education camps which contain between one to three million Uighur’s. In greater detail, the report described how detainees have been “killed to order… cut open while still alive for their kidneys, livers, hearts, lungs, cornea, and skin to be removed and turned into commodities for sale.’
However, it is important to note that while the Chinese tribunal has reported to the UN Council of Human Rights that they have significant proof of organ harvesting. There is no official evidence yet to support these claims. Furthermore, the U.N Human Rights Council has neither confirmed nor denied these accusations, and Beijing themselves have denied committing these acts.
