Peace Day

The International Day of Peace (IDP) is celebrated on 21 September every year to promote peace and non-violence. This year’s theme is Actions for Peace: Our Ambition for the #GlobalGoals. It urges us to take responsibility for creating a peaceful world. Peace is essential for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are a roadmap for a more just, inclusive, and sustainable future for all.

The UN Secretary-General António Guterres said that peace is more urgent than ever, as war, conflict, climate change, and inequality are causing immense suffering and displacement. The SDGs aim to address these challenges and build a culture of peace.

2023 is the halfway point of implementation of the SDGs. Everyone needs to take part in and contribute to the The SDGs, especially the youth whose population has reached over 1.2 billion in the world. The UN invites us to join the call to action for peace: fight inequality, take action on climate change, and promote and protect human rights.

2023 also marks the 75th anniversaries of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Genocide. This day encourages young people all around the world to be ambitious, positive, and constructive and to join the movement to reach the SDGs and help the building of sustainable peace. Together we can lead our world towards a greener, more equitable, just, more peaceful, and secure future for all.

Freemuslim, as an organization that shares this vision of peaceful coexistence in the world, regardless of ethnic or religious differences, believes that achieving peace requires a collective effort from all groups and nations. We support the actions for peace that align with the #GlobalGoals.
