Schools Promoting Inclusivity During Ramadan 2025
At Freemuslim, our mission is to promote peaceful coexistence and foster a society where everyone feels valued and included. As part of our ongoing efforts, we frequently engage with communities across the country to understand the challenges and triumphs of diverse populations. Recently, we have received an overwhelming number of positive messages from Muslim families expressing their appreciation for the growing inclusivity demonstrated by school boards and state officials in various counties.
Muslims in the United States often face feelings of neglect when it comes to social and religious inclusiveness. However, we are encouraged by the efforts of many school districts that are taking meaningful steps to ensure that Muslim families feel seen, heard, and respected. Ramadan, a month of spiritual reflection and community, becomes even more meaningful when people’s faith and traditions are acknowledged and supported. This kind of inclusivity strengthens our society and fosters unity.
Freemuslim’s director, Moujtaba Akhwand, extends heartfelt gratitude to state officials and school board members nationwide who are striving to make schools more inclusive. “It is truly inspiring to witness the dedication of those working tirelessly to create welcoming environments for all students. Their efforts do not go unnoticed, and we want to publicly commend them for their commitment to unity and understanding,” he stated.
Freemuslim has reached out to multiple county school boards across the U.S. to express our appreciation and encourage others to take similar steps in fostering inclusivity. As an organization in advisory status with the United Nations, we believe that true progress is achieved when communities work together to embrace diversity. We hope to see more schools and districts join this movement, ensuring that all students—regardless of their background—feel a sense of belonging.
