Freemuslim’s Center for De-Radicalization & Extremism Prevention (CDREP) calls upon all parties in Ethiopia to resist violence.

We encourage the protestors to resist violence in their demands for change in Ethiopia, and we also encourage the Ethiopian government to address the reasons people have started protests in Ethiopia.

Protesters should remain calm, peaceful and have clear demands so the country is able to address them and together help Ethiopia stay united and prosperous. Instability only delays the chance of advancing forward in economic, social and political areas.

The rise of death tolls and injuries is unbearable and should not happen. It is the duty of the government to facilitate the opportunity for the people it represents, to protest and encourage an environment where people are able to coexist peacefully. Hundreds of people have been injured and more than 80 people have been killed in clashes between protestors and government forces.

We stress the need to intensify the truce efforts between all parties and work to resolve the current crisis with legal and humanitarian frameworks that respect human rights.
