Aidan Britto, a researcher at Freemuslim, Center for De-radicalization and Extremism Prevention (CDREP) attended an event at the United States Institute of Peace for a conversation with the first lady of Afghanistan Her Excellency Rula Ghani.
In this event, Mrs. Ghani focused on women’s rights and her campaign for peace within Afghanistan. Her Excellency emphasized people of Afghanistan are tired of years of war and have lost too many lives to give up now.
Women in Afghanistan are the ones who have suffered the most from instability, as it is the mothers who have seen a continuous flow of coffins in towns and neighborhoods.
At Freemuslim we believe, national stability is a prerequisite to economic growth, technological and social advancement. After years of continuous wars, it may seem difficult to embrace change, but when Afghanistan’s rich history is taken into consideration, success in reaching peace and harmony seems much easier than some assume. It is up to people of Afghanistan to resist negative influences, and become elements of positive change and not to rely on anybody but themselves to advance forward.
