Statement by the Freemuslim Organization on the International Day of Remembrance and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism
The International Day of Remembrance and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism serves as a solemn reminder to all people committed to freedom and the defense of human rights of the profound grief and immense suffering endured by innocent people around the world as a result of acts driven by hatred, violence, and blind extremism.
On this occasion, the Global Organization for Nonviolence (Freemuslim) honors the innocent lives lost and the deep wounds inflicted by terrorist and extremist organizations. The Organization reaffirms its unequivocal and unwavering solidarity with the victims of terrorism and their bereaved families, many of whom continue to suffer the enduring consequences of these heinous crimes.
Terrorism, in all its forms and manifestations, constitutes a grave threat to humanity and represents a fundamental violation of the most basic human right: the right to live in safety, peace, and dignity. While renewing its unequivocal condemnation of all acts of terrorism, the Organization emphasizes the following principles:
- Justice and Accountability: The perpetrators of terrorist crimes must be identified, prosecuted, and brought to justice through effective and impartial legal processes. No individual involved in the shedding of innocent blood should be permitted to escape accountability.
- Protection and Support for Victims: Governments and international organizations must provide comprehensive psychological, social, and material assistance to victims of terrorism and their families. Efforts should also be made to facilitate their full and dignified reintegration into society.
- Countering the Roots of Extremist Ideology: Addressing violent extremism requires sustained efforts to promote a culture of tolerance, dialogue among religions and cultures, and respect for the values of compassion, coexistence, and peace upheld by the world’s faith traditions and universal principles of humanity.
- Nonviolence as a Strategic Choice: The Organization emphasizes that confronting violence and terrorism requires more than security measures alone. It demands the advancement of a culture of nonviolence, the strengthening of the rule of law, and the protection of human rights and human dignity.
On this solemn day, we call upon the international community to stand united and intensify collective efforts to address and eliminate the root causes of terrorism, while working toward a world defined by peace, security, justice, and dignity for all.
May the innocent victims rest in peace. May their families be granted strength, patience, and solace, and may humanity as a whole be protected from the destructive forces of hatred and violence.
