Freemuslim Association Inc., Center for De-Radicalization & Extremism Prevention condemns the violent and inhumane behavior of Nigerian Army towards innocent civilians. Our sources in Nigeria have confirmed not only these civilians were unarmed, but also they were in middle of a religious ceremony.
Nigeria is enriched by cultural and religious presence and sadly; the Nigerian government neglects to ensure their basic rights; including right to worship. Every human being is born free, and should be able to choose the religious affiliation, as long as it does not endanger anybody else’s rights.
Our source in Nigeria has confirmed the incident on October 30th 2018 has been nothing short of inhumane act of violence by the Nigerian Army. According to an eye-witness who wishes to keep her identity unknown due to fear from the Nigerian violent groups; has confirmed that a group of Nigerian Soldiers have opened live ammunition towards a crowd that were in grief for a religious ceremony; and aimed bullets at civilians, including women, men and children.
Unfortunately the humanitarian unrest in Nigeria is fueling fire of extremism in this country, and the international society does not have room for more extremism, let alone violent behavior by an army against unarmed civilians. We call upon humanitarian organizations and the United Nations to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter and prosecute the inhumane army members who have carried out such unbelievable act.
